Meta Launches Pocket AI Minigame App in the U.S.

Meta has released “Pocket,” its generative AI app for creating and sharing small interactive experiences, in the United States. After a short testing period in Brazil, the app now lets users build AI-generated creations, called “gizmos,” using simple prompts.

Pocket combines AI creation tools with a social feed. Users can describe an idea, and the app generates a playable or interactive gizmo. These creations appear in a scrolling feed, where users can view, save, repost, and remix content made by others.

The experiences are designed around smartphone features. A gizmo can react to touch and device movement, while some creations can also use photos and music. Once a gizmo is saved to a profile, other users can modify it and create their own version.

Why They’re Called Gizmos

Instagram | theroutinetech | Meta launched Pocket in the US, letting users create and share interactive AI "gizmos" via simple text prompts.

The term “gizmos” reflects the fact that Pocket is not limited to traditional games. Users can also create simple interactive tools and experiences, such as a digital canvas for painting.

The name also has a connection to another app. Meta hired much of the team behind “Gizmo,” an app that offered a similar concept and used the same term for its creations. “Gizmo” later shut down.

Pocket is another example of Meta adding AI-generated content to its products. The company previously introduced “Vibes” inside the Meta AI app, giving users a feed focused on AI-generated videos. Facebook has also added AI features that can animate profile photos.

Pocket brings AI-generated interactive content into a social format. Its U.S. launch gives users a way to create, share, and remix small digital experiences directly from a smartphone, while also showing Meta’s continued focus on AI-powered content creation.
